The New York City Symphonic Band at Third Street (formerly the ISO Wind Symphony) is comprised of woodwind, brass and percussion young musicians who aspire to perform advanced and professional-level wind band music.
This ensemble is the only private youth wind ensemble in the New York City area. Students from the Tri-state area and from different schools (public, private and parochial) play in this high-level ensemble. The ensemble performs at venues and concert halls throughout the city including Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, Green-Wood Cemetery, and more. The ensemble has also traveled to Washington DC and performed with members of The United States Air Force Band. In addition, they have participated in clinics with members of The Brooklyn Philharmonic, The New York Pops, and The London Symphony Orchestra.
New York City Symphonic Band students will have the opportunity to study and perform traditional and contemporary works for wind ensembles. In addition, they will receive guidance from Third Street coaches and opportunity to work with composers and guest clinicians.
Students interested in joining the New York City Symphonic Band must audition and display good technique and sight-reading skills.
