Voice

Voice instruction at Third Street covers many styles – touching on the tradition of Broadway, Classical, Jazz, Pop, and Rock. Above all, the emphasis is placed on healthy singing and vocal technique. Instrumental students are encouraged to enroll in voice lessons to build skills in ear training, musicianship, and performance.

LESSONS

Instruction for voice is available in focused, one-on-one individual lessons or in shared partner lessons where two students of a similar level learn from the same teacher.

YOUTH CHOIRS

  • Let’s All Sing (K to Grade 2)
  • Preludio (Grades 3 to 7)
  • Chorale (Grades 8 to 12)

Singing is fundamental for musicians and Third Street encourages students to enroll in choir class! Vocal training helps students to build skills in ear training, musicianship and performance. Students will be introduced to a variety of styles of music and learn to sing collectively both in unison and harmony parts. Above all, Third Street places an emphasis on healthy singing and vocal technique. Choirs are separated by age, with Chorale being the most advanced ensemble for students whose voices have changed. Choirs perform at annual Holiday and Spring concerts! Click here to read more detailed descriptions of Third Street’s Youth Choirs.

CLASSES

MUSICAL THEATRE

Act I Ensemble Ages 5 to 8 | Broadway Company Ages 9 to 14

Students explore the fundamentals of musical theatre in an encouraging and supportive environment while honing their acting, dancing, and singing abilities. Students will also build confidence in their performance skills through both solo and ensemble work, and perfect their stage presence through creative improv, music and movement games. Classes culminate in a revue style showcase of scenes from classical and contemporary at the end of each semester.

Third Street Players Ages 14 to 18

This advanced Musical Theatre class, available by audition, will focus on honing acting and singing skills through learning scenes from classic and contemporary musicals. Students will also have the chance to workshop individual songs and monologues in front of the class and perform in a revue style showcase at the end of each semester.

ADULT CABARET

Ages 21 and up

This 10-week class will focus on storytelling and acting through song in an encouraging and supportive environment.  Performers will have the chance to workshop solo performances in front of the group along with learning small musical theatre numbers to be performed in a revue-style format at an off-site cabaret!

ADULT CHOIR

Ages 18 and up

Vocalists 18 and older with any experience are welcome to join this wonderful group where adult students are introduced to a variety of styles of music and learn to sing collectively both in unison and harmony parts. The Adult Choir is an active member of the Third Street community and performs collectively with other adult and student groups on concerts throughout the year.
