Creative Sound Lab is a group learning experience centered around improvisation that guides young musicians in an exploration of their hidden, untapped musicality.
CSL is based on the program Creative Ability Development which was created by Alice Kanack, a former Third Street faculty member. CAD has been taught at Third Street for years. The premise of the approach is that all children are born with creative ability and that innate creative ability can be developed through the disciplined practice of creative exercises which allow the child complete freedom of choice. Great creative ability is the art of making choices.
For any instrument and voice
Creative Sound Lab is a great companion to Suzuki. The class will lead to increased comfort and confidence with an instrument. Students will learn to improvise and learn through storytelling and games. They’ll discover new sounds, and also create a graphic score.
Though this approach was designed around the Suzuki Approach it can be used with any teaching method.
